Somedays You Just Want to Stay In Bed

I do not want anyone thinking that I am not happy with my life choices, or that I hate, or resent Mo, Tree or Martin.  Honestly I do not.
I am sure as a parent, there are days you feel like selling your children on Ebay to the highest bidder, do we think badly of you? No, we understand that there are some days, your kids are the spawn of Satan, and if you could deny any and all knowledge of them, you would.
Today was one of those days.  Actually it didnt start so badly, well it kind of did.  I woke up at 3am, not being able to fall back to sleep, so I watched some tv, read a book, and played on line for awhile.  At 5, Martin woke up and wanted something to eat, so I went ahead and got him his morning meds, and breakfast.  Finally about 7 I fell back to sleep for awhile, and woke up at 9.  They were both still asleep, so I got some housework done, and some phone calls taken care of.  By the time they both woke up around 10:30, I had quite a bit done.
I made egg salad for lunch, and they had it with coleslaw, Mo loved it, I didn't find out til later that Martin didn't..
I went to Kmart and got a few odds and ends, and came home and made some more fruit salad.
At about 5pm, Martin said he was hungry, that he didn't like the egg salad (but had eaten the coleslaw).  So I told him I would have supper in a little while.  At about 5:45 I took supper into him (it was waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage and fruit salad), he ate all but a bit of the eggs, and fruit salad.  I was sitting in the living room, getting ready to go in and get his plate, when I hear a crash.  I go in there asking him about it, and he says "Oh, I  heard a crash, but I don't know what it is"  I look around, but don't see anything wrong, but I also can't find his dishes.  I check behind his recliner (he sleeps in a recliner instead of a bed).  OMG its a mess back there! Its like looking under your five year olds bed!! I nearly had a heart attack.  His plate from lunch, along with supper, is flipped upside down, so now there is all kinds of eggs and fruit salad on carpeting.  I found his remote control, cell phone, eyeglasses, couple of drinking glasses, blankets and other clothes, sheeesh!!  From now on I am inspecting his room at least once a day!
So I got all that cleaned up, and then at 9:30, I got everyones meds and insulins and whatever else they needed.
I about had another heart attack, Mo's blood sugar was 323.  I swear up and down she is brittle diabetic (basically someone who all they have to do is smell any kind of food, and their sugar goes haywire).  But doctors just keep telling me she needs to eat healthy, she DOES!
As I said, she was late getting up, so no breakfast, but she had egg salad sandwich, and coleslaw for lunch, then for supper she had two waffles, scrambled eggs (with cheese) two sausage links, and fruit salad.  Then for her 8pm snack she had cottage cheese with fruit salad, and a few cheese puffs.  True the only veggies she got today was the coleslaw, but she isn't much of a veggie eater, its like getting your 3 year old to eat spinach, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!
Mo has had three strokes and three (hospital worthy) heart attacks, with smaller attacks where she let the pain go away.  She worries the crap out of me, because she even tells me that she doesn't care about her blood sugar, she is hungry, she will eat.  She is 4'10, and weighs around 180, she always complains about her weight, but refuses to do anything about it.  Not that I am much better, I am 5'0 and 280, so yes, I am just as bad, if not worse.  But I get up, I walk to Kmart, or to where ever else it is I need to go to.  Yes, I sit in front of the computer alot, and yes I don't eat as healthy as I should.  I am fortunate in so far not being diabetic, my mother, and both grandmothers were/are diabetic, so I am sure it will happen, I just don't know when.

I am not trying to control what Martin or Mo do, how they eat, or how they live, I can only control myself.  But I am their caregiver, I am the one who takes them to the doctors, and the doctors look to me to do whats right, I can't do that, if they refuse to do so.  Yes, they are adults, and they will do what they want, but it sure would be alot easier if they cared enough about themselves, to take care of themselves.

Todays meals, and Ideas

Okay, so for breakfast today, Martin got cereal, and Mo got waffles, scrambled eggs and pineapple tidbits.
For lunch I think I am going to run to Fazolis (its less than a block away, I can literally run, lol)  I am craving pizza, and their pizza taint so bad.  Mo likes nearly anything from there, Martin will most likely only want spaghetti.
For supper tonight is Kielbasa, mashed potatoes, veggie salad, and fruit salad.
I got the stuff to make some rice pudding, so I will most likely make that for dessert too.
So I woke up before everyone this morning, so I walked over to Kmart (I love living in an area where  Kmart, four resturaunts, and a few other things are all within walking distance!)  I got a fan for the kitchen, and a trashcan for the kitchen.  As I said in an earlier post, we just moved to Indy, and somehow the trashcan for the kitchen got left behind (along with the vacuum cleaner, and a few other things!!) And I also grabbed a few groceries,   But I didn't get a whole lot, since I was walking, and had to drag everything home, lol.
Here is the dinner plans for the rest of the week:
Thursday: Waffles, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, and sausage
Friday: Chicken salad, cucumber salad, and potato salad
Saturday (if can find it) steak umms over baked potatoes and salad, otherwise will try to find the thinnest cut of meat I can find.  They love having basically Philly Cheesesteak over baked potatoes, works for me!!
Sunday: Beef and Potato Casserole I found this recipe floating around online, can be done int he crockpot, and with the oven being persnickety right now, this is a good alternative.  The family does like shepherds pie, and this is just a variation of it.
I will keep you updated on who likes what, what was a hit, and what was a miss!

Picky Eaters!

Picky eaters are going to be the death of me!
I am not sure how many know, but I am a live in aide for a family.  I do everything, basically I am Mom of three adults who are going to put me in an early grave, lol.
First there is Mo, she is 67 years old, diabetic, ornery, and spoiled rotten (and she admits it!)  Then there is her husband, Tree, (we won't say his full name, lets just say, he has one of the most unusual names I have ever heard) he is 65, and picky, picky PICKY!  Then there is Mo's brother, long story short, she and her brother last saw eachother in 1985 at their mothers funeral.  They vaguely kept in contact over the phone, but otherwise didn't have much contact.  Two years ago, Martin had a heart attack, and was found laying unconscious on his living room floor by a neighbor, they contacted Mo, as she was the next of kin.  Martin was living in Ohio, we were living in Mo at the time.  Martin moved into a nursing home, then we moved him into a nursing home in the town we were living in last year.  This past month, we moved to Indianapolis, bringing Martin with us.
Martin is 71, has lived alone the majority of his life, so he pretty much hides in his room.  He is a computer whiz, so he plays on the computer alot, and watches tv, but thats pretty much it for him.
Martin is my biggest worry actually.  He is an extremely picky eater.  These are the foods he WILL eat: Cauliflower, salad, hamburgers, hotdogs, baked or mashed potatoes (with or without gravy), grilled cheese, anything with hamburger (shepherds pie, spaghetti, hamburger helper, things like that), chicken salad, chicken and dumplings (or noodles), potato salad, pickles, and that my dears is about it.  I might be missing a couple of things, but can't remember, lol).
What makes it even more difficult, is that he is diabetic, so I want him to eat healthy, and variety of foods, but he doesn't like variety at all honestly.
Tree is just as bad, he will eat pasta (lasagna is his fave meal), anything with hamburger in it, hamburgers, hotdogs, spam, beef steaks, potato salad, very few veggies.  He won't eat pork except for sausage and bacon. Potatoes, and a few other things.
Basically, what Mo likes, Martin and Tree don't like, and what they like, its doubtful Mo likes it.  There are many times I have to cook two meals per meal.
For example, for Mo's breakfast, she will eat nearly anything, cold or hot cereal, waffles, pancakes, sausage (links not patties), sausage gravy, toast, biscuits, eggs, and nearly anything else you can think of that would be served at breakfast.
Martin will only eat cold cereal, scrambled eggs, waffles, and sausage gravy.
Tree is on his own (I typically only have to make supper for Tree, and he isn't in bad health like Mo and Martin are, and is capable of being a big boy!)
For lunch Mo will eat nearly any type of sandwich, spam, bacon, peanut butter, ham, turkey, etc etc.  Any type of salad (veggie, or fruit) and loves chicken noodle soup, and tomato soup, and bean soup.
For lunch Marvtn will eat grilled cheese, salad, a banana, a hamburger (If I am running errands and bring something home), or a can of bean soup.
So for supper, lets say I want to make baked chicken, buttered noodles and a veggie.  I have to make either a hamburger, or grilled cheese for Marvin, and either hamburger or beef steak for Oak.  As for veggies, lets say I make green beans, I have to make something else for Marvin and Oak, they will both eat peas, Marvin will eat cauliflower, or a salad.
The only true time I can get everyone to agree is if I make meatloaf, spaghetti, salsbury steak, hamburger helper (homemade of course), Salad, cauliflower, buttered noodles, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese.
Martin doesnt like tacos, or anything Mexican, so if I make taco salad, he gets the salad only part of it, Tree doesn't like Chinese, so if I make Chinese (lets say beef and broccoli with fried rice) then I have to make something competely different for Tree.
None of them really see it as a problem, because they don't mind if foods are repeated daily, I think all of them would be perfectly happy eating hamburgers, french fries, and potato salad daily.  But that gets boring, and not that healthy!!
I get tired of making the same things all the time.
I nearly look forward to the holidays, just so I can cook something different!
I am on the hunt for recipes, and ideas, because my brain is overloaded.  Not sure what I am going to do, but I will figure it out.
